Image gallery
Images are important for many of our projects, being used to portray complex subjects or to improve the readability of working documents produced for clients.
John Baker, our Managing Partner, is a keen amateur photographer and captures many of the images we use.
Our gallery contains images from some of the sectors where we work:In the gallery we have collected some examples of where human factors have not been considered at the design or implementation stages, and some images from events that we've run.
We've also gathered together some road safety advice from the 1930s (from the 1934 Wills Cigarettes 'Safety First' cards) and some railway engineering safety advice from the 1960s.
If you would like to use any of the images in the gallery, or would like to talk to us about providing photographic services for your business, please contact us.

British Rail Traction Maintenance Training Manuals
We have been involved with railway traction and rolling stock for many years - our Managing Partner was an engineering apprentice at the Works Training School in Swindon - and over this time we have accumulated a large amount of traction and rolling stock training manuals. Most of these were produced by British Railways Western Region's Diesel Training School at the Mill in Bristol Street, Swindon (now part of UTC).
These paper documents have started to show their age, so we have decide to scan and clean them. Each one takes quite a while to do, and we have quite a lot! More will appear here as we complete them, so keeping checking back.
The current suite of documents are available to download here.
We work with quite a few heritage railways (see our Clients section), providing consultancy and training in areas such as risk assessment, incident investigation, data recorder analysis, maintenance error management, competence management, operational readiness and operational processes. We are aware that developing and maintaining the competence of the next generation of rolling stock engineers is challenging and there appears to be very little information available on the internet (unlike driver manuals, which seem to be readily accessible). We are making these documents available free of charge, but please contact us if you would like to make a donation to one of the charities we support, as a gesture of your gratitude.
Please remember that these are documents that were used in training and should be used as a guide only!
